Chain-link fencing ( has been around for decades, and while it’s still popular in many places, it’s quickly becoming a rarity in homes across the country. There are many good reasons for this trend, but one of the biggest is the pool fencing trend. Pool fencing is usually metal, like typical chain-link fencing; but pool fencing today is typically made with corrugated metal, a.k.a. “corralled metal”.

Corrugated metal fencing (sometimes called “hot welded wire mesh”) is made by folding metal pipes and welding them together. The corrugated metal fencing may be designed with different thicknesses and configurations, and it has different mechanical properties. Corrugated metal fencing has been in use in the U.S. since the 1950s, but it wasn’t until recently that its use became so widespread. This is probably because it’s cheap, lightweight (which is why it’s used for pool fencing), and easily manipulated with tools such as hand trowels.

Another reason for the popularity of chain-link fencing is the ease of installation – if you have a fence with corrugated metal wire, you can just add more wire to the corrugation to make the fence to reach your desired height and width. The more wire you add, the sturdier your fence will be. Because this is very cheap to do, many Tucson fence contractors use this method when installing pool fencing – they cut their metal fencing to the desired length once and then run several of their line posts through the fence and through the corrugation to hold it together properly. After the fence is in place, they just build a fence number on top of the first and install the corrugated wire on top of that.

Corrugated metal doesn’t rust, melt or become brittle like other materials like wood would. That’s why chain-link fencing is so resilient – it can stand the test of time even under the harshest of conditions. It’s also been found that the woven wire does not attract insects as much as some other fence materials would, like wood would. And chain-link fencing is not as prone to attack by termites, beetles, and mold, all of which can cause damage to your home.

But none of those benefits mentioned so far should be enough to dismiss the safety aspect of chain-link fencing. After all, a fence is, by definition, a barrier. The first rule of fence safety is that the fence should be at least ten feet high – even fifteen feet is usually a good amount of distance. If you have a fence that’s more than that, make sure that you install tall, strong fencing spikes so that your fence doesn’t come down on anyone below.

Chain link fences are usually constructed with two kinds of materials: corrugated and stainless steel. For the most part, you won’t notice much difference in the way the chain-link fence looks between the two. Stainless steel looks a lot like traditional galvanized iron – the only real difference is that it’s black instead of white. Chain-link fence panels are usually made up of corrugated mesh (which gives the fence its name). There are usually five terminal posts along the perimeter of the panel, and these can be adjustable in height as well.

To create a chain-link panel, the panels are laced together with galvanized steel line. The corrugated mesh is then soldered to the line, and then the panel is painted black. In order to add security, corrugated wire is positioned inside the panel. This way, when the line goes through the fence, it can’t be cut. However, if someone were to cut the wire while the panel was up, the fence would still be vulnerable.

If you decide to install a chain-link fence on your property, there are some things you need to do before you start cutting the first wire. First of all, be sure to check the local building codes to make sure you aren’t breaking any regulations by installing a fence this way. You also need to get a contractor to inspect your fence, and make sure that it is installed properly.
