About One Accord: Our History
One Accord was founded in 1974 (under its former name of Marriage Review) by Richard & Joyce Conner. The original vision of Marriage Review was to take the verse “…that they may have life, and have it more abundantly” and apply it to marriage through inspiring enrichment courses. The vision was passed on to others and the team now numbers some 40 couples; some are teaching couples, others prayer supporters or administrators. All are volunteers with the exception of part-time office staff. Most team couples are resident in the southern part of the UK, as far as Falmouth in the South West and Norwich in East Anglia; however we do have couples further north (Shetland being the most northerly) – and even one couple continuing marriage ministry while in New Zealand.
In 2003, to reflect our broadening vision to increase relationships skills overall, the name of the organisation was changed from Marriage Review to One Accord.
The contribution John and Hazel Kerr made to marriage ministry nationally, as well as the passionate leadership John gave during his time as Director of One Accord from 1995 to 2006, is acknowledged with great thankfulness. John died following a short battle with cancer in June 2006.
